L.I.F.E.G.O.E.S.O.N.

What? It does. Sometimes you just need a little encouragement.

On my last night on earth,
I won't look to the sky,
Just breathe in the air,
And blink in the light.

On my last night on earth,
I'll pay a high price,
To have no regrets, and be done with my life

When I'm Alone

My new favorite song :) Too bad I missed it when iTunes UK announced it as the editor's choice of the year in December of 2010. Oh well! Better late than never!

Step Into My Office, Baby

Well...I mean...it's one of my favorite songs ever. It also ranks very high for the music video.

Explanations to come later.

Goodnight, small fan base consisting mainly of my younger brother(he's a giant so he counts for a few small to average-size people). Sweet dreams.

Carney Concert

Hello, very small world following my blog. So glad you're here.

Last night I attended a Carney concert. For those of you who are sickly uncultured, Reeve Carney(and the rest of the band consisting of brother Zane, Aiden Moore, and Jon Epcar) are currently performing on stage in Spiderman the Musical on broadway. Anyway...It was the best concert of my life :)

Opening for the band was sister Paris Carney(who has been featured in the blog before). She has a lovely voice and is a beautiful jazz singer. She even invited Zane up to do a fantastic rendition of  "I Cover the Waterfront."

Next up was James Maddock, who I had not previously heard of. He turned out to be quite good. Definitely a band I look forward to hearing more from.

Ahhhh and the band that takes the cake every time, Carney. They played for over two hours and it was nothing short of incredible. What passion behind the music. It was easy to tell how excited the band was to be reunited in such a fashion. They haven't played a show since the premier of Spiderman and were eager to let it all out, which is exactly what they did. They even played some of the songs that inspired them to become musicians when they were younger (i.e. Bohemian Rhapsody and I Want You).

I can't begin to explain the amount of energy in the room and how contagious their passion for the music was. It was truly a thing of beauty.

BEST.BAND.EVER

Here's a live take of Amelie. I attempted to fix the sound quality but it is what it is. I have also attached a link to the concert photos :) ENJOY!

Young Blood

So sorry for taking a small break from the blogging world.

So let's start back up on a high note. Loving this new song. Loving this band. Loving the name the Naked and Famous.
They're a small indie rock band from Australia. Their single "Young Blood" debuted on the New Zealand chart at number one in 2010—the first New Zealand artist in three years to do so.

Hurrrrr it izzzzz, folx :) N-joy

Under the Cover of Darkness

It's late and it's also dark outside. And I love this song :) Enjoy

Schizophrenia (an ode to the way I feel today)

Once I saw Jukebox the Ghost live after I won what was basically a sarcasm contest. They're my brother's absolute favorite band in the whole wide world and I don't think they've ever signed more merchandise for one person. It was comical. They also gave me their setlist. As proof, I will publicly humiliate myself by offering a photo of me dancing around like an idiot as a result of the receipt of said set list.

Idiocy aside, Jukebox is amazing. Their upbeat and ultimately infectious sound never fails to make me smile.

Check out the song description before you listen. It's quite interesting.

"Years ago I learned that often schizophrenics become schizophrenics in their early twenties after a traumatic experience. So the song is from the point of a schizophrenic who still has the wherewithal to talk coherently about his illness. Secondly, the song was born of the two piano melodies of the verses that were both technically very difficult to play and which, after I learned them, screamed ‘schizophrenic." - Ben Thornewill

Two Matchsticks

Fun fact: This song was actually recorded in the band's frontman's home in Austin, Texas.  It was later mixed in a studio.

Always Spring (a special request)

This is a special request from someone who can only be described as special himself.

I'm from Barcelona is the biggest band in Sweden, and by biggest, I mean physically largest. There are so many members that I couldn't actually give you a concrete number(the photo has 20 and the member count is 29). Either way the band is super interesting and ultimate proof that less is not more.

Plus, the guy on vocals has a sick 'stache.

Just remember--somewhere it's always spring :)

Black Sheep

Originally by Metric and covered by "Clash at Demonhead," the fictional band from Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. Vocals by Brie Larson. Here's a twofer :)

The Waterfront (covered by Paris Carney)

HOLLA. She rocks and guess who she may or may not be related to(but really she is)-----That's right. She is the sister of Reeve and Zane Carney(we've already covered the massive crush I have on them).
This is a beautiful cover of a classic tune. Super props to the girl who will be opening for her brothers on July 25th at the Bowery Ballroom.

Silver Lining (or not...)

Rilo Kiley has announced it's split!

Guitarist Blake Sennett explained the reasons for the split saying "I just felt like there was a lot of deception, disloyalty, greed and things I don't really want to submit myself to. I had related that frustration to music but I just thought, 'I'm not going to put myself in that position again,' so I said, 'Fuck that, I can't do this anymore.'"

We bid you adieu, Rilo Kiley. I suppose not every cloud has it's silver lining.

Phones Don't Feud

Loving the experimental pop vibe. This is off the Columbus'd The Whim album. I unfortunately couldn't find a lot of information on the band itself. Either way I'm digging the tunes provided by this enigmatic group.

"I still want you. If you'll haunt me too."

The Comeback Kid(That's My Dog)

Oh dear Lord, this song is PLAGUING my mind. Not that I don't love it. Brett Dennen rocks my world. This is the perfect beat for a hot summer day. Makes me sooooo happy :)

I love the gingers <3

Rosemary Stretch

I have found a new band to obsess over! Pepper Rabbit was born in New Orleans. Their debut album, "Beauregard," is awesome, however, I am partial to their sophomore album entitled "Red Velvet Snow Ball." For their second release, vocalist Xander Singh worked on incorporating 11 instruments, ranging from ukeleles to clarinets to analog synths, by teaching himself how to play through YouTube videos. The level of talent is quite impressive. Give it a go because I know you'll love them as much as I do :) Enjoy!

Love Me Chase Me (for the record I would)

I'm in love. Carney is one of the greatest bands ever to grace the stage! Cannot wait to see them on July 25th at the Bowery Ballroom. They've got a great vibe and even better hair.

Vitamin C

I spent my entire day yesterday at the Pleasantville Music Festival in New York. Needless to say, it was nothing short of incredible with artists like If But When, Scars on 45, Augustana, Nicole Atkins and the Black Sea, Sonny Landreth, and Mark Cohn(and no worries, there were many, many more). There was an AMAZING amount of raw talent and the live performances were spectacular. Here's one of the best of the day:

Steal Your Heart

I was never good at being patient. Darn.

Life is like a shadow
It never stays in one place
I'm standing here anyway
However long it takes to steal your heart

Steal Your Heart-Augustana

No really it is Augustana :) Props on the amazing transformation.

Changing

All these things that you say, like I'll forget about the mind-numbing games that you play.
I am a gentleman, didn't I pay for every laugh every dime, every bit every time and then you feed me some line.
I won't hear one more word about changing.
Guess what I am the same man, same that I've always been.

Don't Sit Down Because I've Moved Your Chair

Go into business with a grizzly bear,
Fit a circular hole with a peg that's square,
Do the Macarena in the Devil's Lair,
But just don't sit down because I've moved your chair.

Love it.

Super Exciting Charity Album :)

Eddie Vedder, The Strokes, Conor Oberst and many more musicians have teamed up for a compilation album to benefit the homeless youth organization Outside In.

So excited!

Daft Punk is Playing at My House

Today after I got home from work I threw my iTunes on random and on came none other than Technologic by none other than Daft Punk. In the interest of being witty, here is my second song:

Song 2. Daft Punk is Playing at My House - LCD Soundsystem

Ahhh....indecision.....

After relentlessly trying to choose what I could label as my "favorite" song for my first post, I realized that it would be a ridiculously impossible task. SO, without further ado, here is my first song, preaching about two things I know a lot about: Indecision and Uncertainty
